Beneath the ice-skin of the reservoir,
he aches for the pain to leave.
Gasping for air
he tries to overthrow
the cold water
and his fear.

In the surrounding woodland
life breathes heavily,
and the trees desperately
try to prize him,
pulling, twisting, grasping.

In the serene breeze
he glides out of the water,
revived by the tranquil forest.
