The acrobatic freefall within the lovely thing -
Red, sleek, Valiant,
Pushing power with shiny buttons.
Could I have stopped the sickening crush and thud?

The lovely thing -
Cadences of laughter and academic fugue, stitched and crafted.
A shawl of absolution, knotted scribbles, 
Things that can be mended.
Intentional serendipity.

The leaden weight that burdens the weary frame.
Could I stop the sickening crush and thud

By pulling the thread of hope?
