Who was I?
A young boy in South Dakota
Trapped in a place so open and empty
Yet also so small
Filled with uncertainty
Timid and shy
Lost in the thoughts
Of the people around me

I recall a time
When I broke the board
I got my black belt
And the whole crowd cheered
But that was so long ago
Who am I now?

Here I am
Almost brand new
What change I have made!
I have my own thoughts
I came out of my shell
I grew in my confidence
My growth came so well

A man in Minneapolis
A student in school
A trumpeter in the band

Change is what excites me,
So does sustainability
And Hope.
I think all of this now
But who will I become?

Who will I be?
An engineer in Boston
Designing roads
And learning so much
I’ll let go of the uncertainty
And think of my happiness
With Mara as my wife
And I’ll I’ve accomplished in my young life
